November 20, 2009 On Saturday, November 14, 2009 approximately 10:40 p.m., investigators with Memphis Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigation Squad (STIS) responded to I-240 near Norris Road where Eva Wilson, age 41, was found dead in the roadway.
Ms. Wilson was in the southbound lanes of I-240 when she was struck by at least one vehicle. It is unclear how or why she was in an interstate lane of travel. Citizens and an off-duty officer stopped and attempted to render aid following the incident but were not able to describe the suspect or suspect vehicle. There have been no arrests made and the vehicle that struck Eva Wilson has not been found. STIS investigators need your help and someone to come forward with information. November 15, 2009 On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, approximately 5:15 p.m., officers assigned to Old Allen Station of the Memphis Police Department responded to a “man-down” call to Georgian Hills Park at 3930 Leweir. When they arrived, the officers found 15-year-old Alex Bolar lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
The motive behind this slaying remains unclear.
Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots and seeing subjects running from the area just before police were called. November 2, 2009 On Saturday, October 31, 2009, at approximately 9:16 pm, South Main and Old Allen Station officers responded to a shooting call outside of 777 N. Montgomery. Victim Ronrico Campbell, age 26, was found lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Campbell died moments later at the scene.

October 16, 2009 On Tuesday, April 21, 2009 approximately 4:00 a.m., Raines Station officers responded to a shooting call at a house in the 4500 block of Tulane. John Freeman, age 64, was found inside his home with gunshot wounds. Freeman was transported to The Med in non-critical condition, but soon his condition worsened. Freeman died at The MED on Oct. 4. Freeman’s death has been ruled a homicide, attributable to the gunshot wounds he suffered in April.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired. Three black males were seen leaving the area in a red vehicle shortly after the shooting. October 8, 2009 On Thursday, October 1, 2009 at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers assigned to Raines Station of the Memphis Police Department responded to a robbery call at the Kroger fuel center at 1234 Finley Road. A lone suspect confronted two employees with a handgun, threatened them, and took cash. Afterwards, the suspect fled on foot.
The suspect was described as a black male, 35 to 40 years of age, 5’11, and 180 pounds, wearing a black ball cap, chrome sunglasses with a blue lens, multicolored scarf around his head and face, and dark clothing. October 1, 2009 *solved* On September 17, 2009, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Dollar General store at 6690 Macon Road was robbed by a lone suspect. The suspect pulled a gold handgun, confronted a cashier, and demanded cash, but soon became frustrated. Instead, the suspect took money from a donation receptacle and fled on foot toward a nearby apartment complex. There were no injuries.
The suspect is described as 6’ 1” tall, medium build, dark complexion, 25-30 years old, mustache, and a goatee. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing glasses a black toboggan style hat, black t-shirt and black short jeans. A vehicle was not seen. Safe Streets Task Force investigators have released photos captured by surveillance cameras shortly before the robbery. September 23, 2009 On Thursday, September 17, 2009 approximately 10:20 a.m., Memphis Police officers responded to a “fire call” at the Valley Forge Apartments, 3632 Hillbrook, #3, and found the victim, Otis Pinkins, age 76, deceased on the scene. Medical examiners have ruled Pinkins’ death a homicide.

September 20, 2009 *solved* On Wednesday, September 9, 2009 approximately 4:30 a.m., Union Station officers responded to a “man down” call at Lucy and Patton when passersby discovered a 26-year old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition where he was identified as Reco Patterson. Later the following night, Patterson died from his wounds.

September 9, 2009 On Saturday, August 29, 2009, Union Station officers responded to a “man-down” call at 109 N. Belvedere, in the Belvedere Gardens Condominiums. Dayrelle Fate Coaty, age 36, was found unresponsive at the scene and transported to the Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition. He died shortly afterwards from his injuries. Coaty’s death has since been ruled a homicide.
Homicide investigators believe robbery was the motive. Witnesses report hearing a disturbance and Coaty’s1995 Ford Taurus was taken from the scene. The vehicle was recovered later at 619 Exchange. It had faded red paint, and damage to the rear bumper and rear door. Someone may have seen the suspect arriving on Exchange or leaving the vehicle. September 1, 2009 *solved* On Monday, August 31, 2009 at 4:00 a.m., the victim Aaron Wiseman was in a vehicle traveling on I-240 at Getwell approaching Perkins when a white SUV pulled beside the victim and someone in that vehicle shot him. Wiseman was transported to Baptist East Hospital where he later died from his injury.

August 23, 2009 *solved* On Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 2:06 a.m., officers made the scene of a shooting at the BP Gas Station, located at 2980 N. Thomas. Upon arriving they discovered that the victim, Carlos Threlkeld, had been shot multiple times. Threlkeld was transported to the MED where he died several hours later.
According to witnesses on the scene, the victim and the suspect had been arguing just prior to the shooting. The suspect(s) left the scene in a white, Ford, Explorer. August 16, 2009 Since June 23, 2009, Burglary Bureau investigators with the Memphis Police Department have been tracking a series of burglaries at temporary storage units. In most of these incidents, suspects cut holes along the fence lines, enter the complex, cut locks off of multiple units and take various items, including furniture, lawn equipment, clothing, and firearms. Most of these incidents occur after normal business hours between 8:00 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. Businesses in north and northeast Memphis, particularly along Covington Pike, Sycamore View, and Hollywood have been particularly affected. The most recent incident occurred on August 4, 2009 where estimated property losses exceed $15,000.
Investigators believe several suspects are responsible and that someone knows their identity or the location of some of the proceeds. There have been no arrests in theses cases. August 9, 2009 On Saturday, August 1, 2009 about 7:30 p.m., Tillman Station officers responded to a shooting in the 4700 block of Violet in northeast Memphis and found three male robbery victims at the scene. Two of the victims, ages 51 and 39, were shot during a robbery, both suffering critical injuries. The prognosis remains very uncertain for the 39-year-old victim.
Investigators learned that two area neighbors were drinking tea with a third victim outside one of their homes when two unknown suspects approached. Both suspects were armed with handguns. They demanded money and wallets from the victims and then began firing shots. Both shooting victims received multiple wounds. The third victim, also 39 years old, escaped unharmed. After the shooting, the armed suspects fled east toward Elizabeth Lane. Both got into an older white Lincoln Town Car driven by a third suspect. The vehicle was last seen north on Elizabeth Lane. Witnesses described the armed suspects as young black males in their late teens to mid 20’s. One was 5’11” to 6’1” tall and wearing a white t-shirt. July 19, 2009 Sometime during the overnight hours from Wednesday, July 8, 2009 to Thursday, July 9, 2009, the construction site on Thomas Street at Wolf River overpass was burglarized.
Old Allen Station officers responded to a call at 1712 Thomas Street the next morning after employees arriving for work found several storage containers vandalized and many of their hand and power tools stolen. Property losses are estimated to be between $50,000 and $100,000. Damage to other equipment at the site was severe. Investigators believe a cutting torch kept nearby was used to gain entry to storage containers where the tools were kept, and that a considerable amount of time was spent at the scene. Evidence suggests that one the suspects may have injured himself while committing this theft. There have been no arrests in this case and investigators need someone to come forward. July 26, 2009 On Saturday, July 4th 2009 approximately 1:15 p.m., Memphis Police Department officers responded to a wounding call at St. Francis Hospital, where Mr. Sei Suah, a 54-year-old male was taken for treatment by a private citizen. Suah was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. His death has since been ruled a homicide.
Witnesses report that Suah had recently moved to a home in the 3400 block of Litcherman, near Winchester and Hickory Hill, but arrangements for garbage disposal were incomplete. Suah left his home to dispose of garbage at a nearby dumpster in an apartment complex or business when he encountered his assailant. Shortly afterwards, Suah returned home with bleeding wounds, seeking help from friends. Motive and cause of death remain unclear. At the time, Sei Suah was driving his silver 2009 Toyota Corolla. Investigators believe he may have been in route or leaving a former residence in the Bella Vista Apartments. July 5, 2009*solved* On Friday, May 8, 2009, approximately 6:30 p.m., Airways Station officers were called to a vacant house in the 1500 block of Cella Street in the Orange Mound area after residents complained of a strong odor. Responding officers discovered the body of a deceased female inside the house. Dental records were required to identify the victim as Lamika Turner, age 20. The medical examiner has since ruled her death to be a homicide. Lamika Turner was reported missing by her mother in early February after she was picked up by an acquaintance from a residence on Peabody. Her family called police after she uncharacteristically failed to return home or call. Residents on Cella report that the vacant house where Turner was found has been frequented by vandals and other suspicious persons. On Saturday, June 20, 2009, approximately 2:45 a.m., officers assigned to Old Allen Station responded to a call on Life Avenue at Thomas Street, just north of Firestone in north Memphis. James G. Wilson, age 39, was found lying in the street mortally wounded from a gunshot wound. Wilson was transported to the Regional Medical Center where he died shortly after arrival. Witnesses reported that Wilson was involved in some type of altercation with an unknown suspect shortly before he was shot. The suspect ran from the scene after the shooting. Investigators believe robbery may have been the motive. Wilson’s vehicle was recovered at the scene. James Wilson was the 61st homicide in 2009. There have been no arrests in this case. On Saturday, June 13, 2009, approximately 1:00 p.m., Mt. Moriah Station officers responded to a shooting in the 3900 block of Comanche in the Kensington Manor Apartments. Inside, a Latino male was found shot and critically wounded during an apparent attempted robbery. The victim was transported to The Med where investigators learned he has become a quadriplegic as a result of the shooting. Witnesses reported that two suspects fled on foot following the shooting. Both were described as African-American males in their 20’s. One suspect was tall, approximately 6’3.” The second was significantly shorter. Both suspects wore dark-colored clothing. Memphis Police Department Homicide Bureau investigators continue to seek
leads in a year-old homicide that occurred in the Lamar and Getwell area
of southeast Memphis.
On July 1, 2008 approximately 7:20 a.m., Uniform Patrol officers responded to a man-down call to the 3200 block of Whitebrook Plaza. Responding officers found Rodney Whitaker dead of a gunshot wound. The victim was last seen by witnesses approximately 4:00 a.m. walking in the area of Lamar and Knight Arnold. There is no known motive for his death. Mr. Whitaker was the 84th homicide in 2008. Robbery Bureau investigators with the Memphis Police Department continue to search for leads in the home-invasion style robbery of a 99-year-old female.
Shortly before 3:00 o’clock Friday morning, May 8th, 2009, Union Station officers responded to the 1200 block of Forrest, near Bellevue and North Parkway, and found the victim inside her home with lacerations to the arms. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in non-critical condition. She has since been released. Felony Response and Robbery Bureau investigators conducted the follow-up investigation at the scene and hospital. The elderly victim reported she was confronted inside her home by an unknown male who was armed with a knife. The suspect threatened the victim and took a small amount of cash before fleeing on foot. No vehicle was seen. Exactly how the victim received her injuries remains unclear. Evidence at the scene suggests a door to the home was forced open. The suspect is described as an African-American male, 30-40 years old, with a medium complexion. He was wearing a white shirt at the time of the robbery. Memphis Police Department Homicide Bureau investigators are asking for help from the public to solve a murder that occurred on Sunday, April 19, 2009, in the 1400 block of Genesis Circle in the Alpha Renaissance Apartments, just south of Kerr Avenue.
About 10:30 p.m., Airways Station officers responded to a shooting call and found 38-year-old Raymond Anderson lying next to his white 1996 Oldsmobile. Anderson was suffering from a gunshot wound, but was still alive when the officers arrived. He was able to give some information, but soon became unresponsive. Responding police officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived to take over. Anderson was transported to The Med in critical condition but died shortly afterwards from the gunshot wound. Witnesses described the shooter as a young African-American male, approximately 5’11”, 230 lbs, wearing a light colored t-shirt and dark pants. The suspect fled eastbound on foot. There have been no arrests and no one has been held accountable for this senseless murder. Investigators believe robbery may have been the motive. Memphis Police Department Homicide Bureau investigators need your help solving a “cold case” homicide from a year ago. On Wednesday, May 21, 2008 approximately 6:00 p.m., officers assigned to the Airways Station responded to a “man down” call at 79 E. Dover, north of Person Avenue and west of Third Street. A passerby told neighbors of a suspicious vehicle behind the house, and the neighbors in turn called police. Responding officers discovered Russell Smith slumped in the front seat of a maroon 1994 Buick LaSabre. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. His death was ruled a homicide from gunshot wounds. Russell Smith was 57-years-old at the time. No one has been charged in this crime, or has been held accountable for Smith’s death. Memphis Police Department Homicide Bureau investigators are seeking information on a murder that occurred on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Parkway Inn, 1188 South Parkway E. near Bellevue Blvd. Approximately 9:30 p.m., Uniform Patrol officers responded to a “shots fired” call to the motel and discovered Robert Talley, male white, 55-years-old, collapsed in front of his room. Talley died at the scene from a gunshot wound and medical examiners have since ruled his death a homicide. Witnesses reported hearing shots immediately before police and paramedics responded. Robert Talley had been living at the motel for several months before the murder. The motive behind the slaying remains unknown and there have been no arrests in this case. Safe Streets Task Force is investigating the attempted robbery of Exlines Best Pizza located at 2809 Lamar where an employee was shot.
On Friday, April 03, 2009, at approximately 11:57 pm two suspects entered the business through an unlocked rear door. Upon gaining entry into the business the gunmen demanded money. Upon realizing the business was being robbed the two employees ran from the business through the front door. One of the suspects caught the cook at the front door and dragged him back into the business preventing him from escaping. The cook struggled with one of the suspects and was able to break away and run out the front door. After seeing the cook running out the front door one of the gunmen fired shots with one of them striking the cook in the head. Both suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction. The employee was transported from the scene by Memphis Fire Department Paramedics to the Regional Medical Hospital and has since been released. Both suspects were described as being male blacks, mid twenty’s, 5’10”- 6’0”, slim build, and wearing dark colored clothing. Investigators with Memphis Police Department’s Homicide Bureau continue to investigate the murder that occurred in Midtown Memphis this past Saturday, April 4th, 2009, and need help from the public to solve this senseless crime. This was the 36th homicide this year. Approximately 1:55 a.m., Union Station officers responded to a call about a “man-down” at Cox and Harbert and discovered a man lying in a yard in the 600 block of South Cox. The victim, Michael Neil Krauss, age 42, of Memphis, died at the scene from a gunshot wound. At this time, the motive appears to be robbery. Krauss and an acquaintance were walking on Cox when he was approached by a man described as a white male, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt. The suspect pulled a handgun and demanded money. Krauss attempted to run from the suspect, who chased him and fired a shot causing the fatal wounds. The investigation is still ongoing and no one has been charged. Memphis Police Department Missing Persons Bureau investigators are seeking information from citizens with knowledge of the disappearance of Kenneth Dewayne Williams, 20, who resides in the Jackson and National area in northeast Memphis. Williams has been missing since October 26, 2008.Williams was reported missing by his mother and was last seen at a motel in the 3700 block of Jackson. He does not own a vehicle and has not made contact with his family since he went missing. Williams is 5’7” tall, weighs 145 lbs. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black Jordan shoes. Investigators fear Williams may have become the victim of a serious crime and desperately need witnesses to come forward and bring closure to this mystery. Investigators with Safe Streets Task Force continue to search for Jermaine Cortez Lane, 22, of Memphis in connection with several robbery and carjacking cases that occurred during the late night or early morning hours of Tuesday, March 10, 2009 and Wednesday, March 11, 2009. An arrest warrant has been issued for Lane charging him with Aggravated Robbery, Carjacking, and weapons violations in two of the cases (Warrant #09008391). A co-participant, Anthony Terrell Lewis, 20, of Memphis, was arrested in the 2900 block of Getwell Road on March 11th after leading deputies in a pursuit following separate robberies in the 3800 block of Inverness Drive and the 8100 block of Forest Park North. Lewis was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Carjacking, and weapons charges. He remains in custody at the Shelby County Jail. Typically, the victims were approached on parking lots of apartment complexes in southeast Memphis, southeast Shelby County, and in the Cordova area. The suspects were armed with handguns, and took wallets, personal belongings, and vehicles from the victims. All of the victims’ vehicles have been recovered. Two handguns have been recovered. On Wednesday, July 24, 2002, Patrick Johnson was shot and killed on the parking lot of Thomas Street Liquors, 956 N. Thomas, after closing his business for the night. Mr. Johnson was 50-years-old at the time of his death, and no one has been held accountable for this crime. Investigators with the Homicide Bureau of the Memphis Police Department are still hopeful that someone has information that will enable them to arrest and charge the person responsible. Approximately midnight on the night of the murder, Patrick Johnson had just entered his blue 1984 BMW 318i when a lone suspect approached him with a handgun and fired several shots into the vehicle. Mr. Johnson died at the scene. Investigators believe robbery was the motive.Witnesses described the suspect as an African-American male in his 20’s, approximately 5’8”, with a slim build. Investigators with Memphis Police Department’s Missing Persons Bureau need your help finding a 51-year old female missing since New Year’s Eve.
On Wednesday, December 31st, 2008 Valois Jones-Dunlap called her daughter during the afternoon to tell her she was going to 185 E. Norwood to pick up her grandchildren at Gateway Learning Academy. Ms. Jones-Dunlap never arrived and her family has not heard from her since. Her vehicle, a white 1985 Buick Century, was found five days later, abandoned and burned near Trigg and Main in the old Texas Court Apartments. Despite exhaustive searches by police and the family, Ms. Jones-Dunlap still has not been found. Investigators fear Ms. Jones-Dunlap may have become the victim of a serious crime, and continue to search for information explaining her disappearance or where she may be located. Valois Jones-Dunlap is approximately 5’4” tall, 170 lbs, and was last seen wearing a brown jacket, brown shirt with the word “Pepe” written on the front, blue jeans and boots. She has piercing above the right eye, a tattoo with “Lois” on the left leg, and her hair may be braided. Memphis Police Department Homicide Bureau investigators need your help to solve a homicide that occurred during the evening of Thursday, November 6, 2008.
Approximately 7:15 p.m., responding officers found Vernon Irvin with a gunshot wound inside his home at 1908 Macaulay in North Memphis. He died at the scene shortly afterwards. Mr. Irvin was 52 years old at the time of his death. Mr. Irvin was visiting with a friend when he answered a doorbell at his home. It’s believed Mr. Irvin spoke briefly with the suspect just before he was shot. The suspect fled in an unknown direction. No vehicle was seen and there have been no arrests in this case. Memphis Police Department Homicide Bureau investigators continue to investigate the fatal shooting of Mohamed N. Al Hadi, age 19, that occurred at Food Town Market, 458 Buntyn, on Saturday, January 31, 2009, shortly before 3:00 p.m. The victim was a clerk at the store and was killed following a robbery.
The suspect was captured by surveillance cameras inside the business wearing a blue plaid shirt and blue jeans and is described as an African-American male, approximately 6’0” tall. Eva, then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. Mr. Christopher Mathis, M/B, age 22, became the 141st Homicide victim

an altercation with two male blacks who were occupying a black Chevy Tahoe. During this altercation, the driver of the Tahoe

Hot Case File April 6, 2009 *solved* Memphis Police Department Homicide Bureau investigators need assistance to solve the murder of Cardell Bowen, age 19. Bowen’s body was found on March 20, 2009 inside his Whitehaven apartment at 3645 Cazassa Creek #6. Friends and co-workers summoned police after Bowen failed to show up for work as scheduled on consecutive days at FedEx.
Medical examiners have since ruled Cardell Bowen’s death a homicide, resulting from blunt force trauma. Bowen’s vehicle, a gold or tan 1998 Mercury Mystique, was taken from the scene but was recovered several days later in the area of Henley and Donna, just west of Pendleton. Investigators hope to speak with any witnesses that may have seen the vehicle when it was abandoned. Cardell Bowen’s vehicle had MS license plates when it was taken, but had TN license plates when it was recovered.

Hot Case File February 6, 2009 The Memphis Police Department has asked for citizen help in solving a case Involving the death of numerous pit bull dogs in the Frayser area. The bodies of several canines were discovered January 19 by a road clean-up crew working in the 3400 block of Benjestown Rd., near the old International Harvester plant in the New Chicago neighborhood. Officers called to the scene said it appeared the dogs were all pit bulls and had been used as fighting dogs.
